I heard my hubby mention Pulau Perhentian so I just ask him "Where is Pulau Perhentian?"

Me : Where is Pulau Perhentian?

Hubby : It’s in Johor some where near Tioman.

Me : WHAT!!! Are you sure ?

Hubby : Yes.

Me : I tot it’s in Terengganu?

Hubby : No la .. It’s in Johor.

Well hubby I search google and got this from wiki :

The Perhentian Islands (Pulau Perhentian in Malay ) lie approximately 10 nautical miles (19 km) offshore the coast of northeastern Malaysia in the state of Terengganu , approximately 40 miles (64 km) south of the Thai border. The two main islands are Perhentian Besar ("Big Perhentian") and Perhentian Kecil ("Small Perhentian"). The small, uninhabited islands of Susu Dara (Virgin Milk ), Seringgi and Rawa lie off Kecil. The Perhentians belong to Pulau Redang National Marine Park , which means that fishing, collecting coral and littering are strictly prohibited.

Hubby you need to brush up your geography. I know i flunk geography but I still know Malaysia geography :D

Interludes of Life

Don’t go for looks, they can deceive;
Don’t go for wealth – even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile ‘
cause only a smile makes a dark day seem bright.

It takes a minute to have a crush on someone,
An hour to like someone and
A day to love someone
but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Read the rest of this entry »

This note is dedicated to my chubby hubby that keep asking me how to remove ^M in a file.

UNIX treats the end of line differently than other operating systems. Normally CTRL-M character is visibly displayed at the end of each line as ^M if the file is not transfered in binary mode (this is why I always prefer SFTP instead of FTP).

  1. In vi, to remove the ^M do as following :
  2. :%s/^V^M//g

    ^V is a CONTROL-V character
    ^M is a CONTROL-M.

So it will look like this:

    :%s/^M//g

%s is a basic search and replace command in vi.
The g is use for search and replace globally (all occurrences).

  3. with Solaris you can just do (heard HPUX has the command “dos2ux” instead of dos2unix):
  4. dos2unix <dos file> <unix file>

  5. You can also use the octal representatiion of ^M:
  6. tr -d ‘\015\032′ < file
